To get started, ensure you have the following:
- The Coat Sewing Pattern – this can be purchased as a printed or digital sewing pattern here
- The Coat Lining Digital Add-On – this can only be purchased as a digital add-on here
What’s Included in The Coat Lining Digital Add-On?
Your digital add-on comes with these essential PDF files:
- A0 Print-At-Copy-Shop PDF – A large-format pattern sheet for professional printing.
- A4/US Letter Print-At-Home PDF – A pattern designed for home printing (requires assembly to create the full sheet).
- Instructions PDF – Step-by-step guidance for sewing the fully lined coat.
- Information PDF – Detailed updates on fabric requirements, pattern pieces, haberdashery and more.
- Layplans PDF – New layout plans for the coat and lining.
Key Changes and How to Proceed
Original Coat Sewing Pattern
- Finished Garment Measurements, Fabric Requirements, Interfacing, Layplans and Haberdashery Requirements:
Please use the updated information provided using the “Information” PDF provided with the digital add-on. - Pattern Pieces:
Use only certain pieces from the original sewing pattern. New pattern pieces specific to the lining are included in the digital add-on. A list of which pattern pieces to use from the original sewing pattern and the new lining pieces is included in the “Information” PDF provided with the digital add-on. - Instruction Book:
You’ll refer to the original Coat instructions briefly but primarily follow the Instructions PDF from the digital add-on. See more information below.
Using the New Instructions
The new Instructions PDF provided in the digital add-on outlines the exact steps to follow for making the fully lined version. Here’s a quick overview:
- Complete Preliminary Steps:
Using the Instructions provided in the digital add-on, refer to page 2 which will outline which steps to use from the main Coat instructions such as sewing the princess seams, pockets, back pieces, and collar. You’ll skip steps such as the vent section. - Switch to the Lining Instructions:
Once these steps are completed, set aside the original instructions and continue with the fully lined instructions provided in the Instructions PDF.
