I was delighted to be asked to make 20 Christmas stockings for a children’s charity.
First I had to “draw” twenty Christmas tree’s onto the green fabric. A good tip – make the template out of cardboard and then draw around it on the fabric using a white pencil crayon or fabric marker. This way you don’t have to pin the pattern and then cut out it out, which is a huge strain on time!
Then once I had all the stockings cut of the red fabic I pinned all the tree’s and topstitched them in one go. If you topstitch close to the edge in a lighter / darker or even contrasting colour then the fabric will gently fray next to the stitches which looks fab.
I added some buttons to the stockings which looked so sweet.
