Fabric Shopping in London
Feel like a day out shopping for Fabric instead of buying online? Here’s a guide to shopping in our gorgeous city of London – and closer to home for me – North London!
GOLDHAWK ROAD / SHEPHERDS BUSH
Closest Tube: Goldhawk Road / Shepherds Bush
If you want a huge, huge range of fabrics the first place to go to is Shepherd Bush/Goldhawk Road. Dotted along the street are a string of fabric shops. Unfortunately though they get very busy on a Saturday morning and aren’t open on a Sunday. Fabrics are cheap if you can get to the millions of rolls stacked up against each other. Definitely worth a visit to see the huge range. Wear flat shoes! Parking is a nightmare so take the tube.
Some of the names of the shops along Goldhawk Road:
Fabric World, 49C Goldhawk Road, W12 8QP
A One Fabrics, 50-52 Goldhawk Road, W12 8DH
A to Z Fabrics, 53A Goldhawk Road, W12 8QP
Mt London Fabrics Ltd, 27 Goldhawk Road, W12 8QQ
BERWICK STREET
Nearest tube: Oxford Circus / Tottenham Court Road / Piccadilly Circus
Aaaah the crème de la crème of fabric shops. A must see but expect to pay premium prices! Amaaaazing choices of fabric, beautiful to die for choices. The Cloth House has two shops along this street along with Silk Society, Borovick, Misan Textiles and Kleins on Noel Street.
Definitely worth a day trip with lots of money in your pocket! Don’t be put off by the sometimes unfriendly staff!
LIBERTY
Great Marlborough Street W1B 5AH
Nearest tube: Oxford Circus
A must see – what a beautiful store. Well worth a visit, the fabrics are world famous and absolutely stunning.

Lovely shop – not such a huge range of fabrics in the shop, I get the feeling that there is more selection online strangely!
They have Designer cotton prints, plains, jersey and stretch fabrics, Heavier weight fabrics – canvas, velvet, cord and some lighter weight fabrics – voile.
They also have curtain and upholstery fabrics.

JOHN LEWIS
Aaaah John Lewis – the one closest to me only sells interior fabric, wide selection of fabrics but you know you are paying a bit extra. The haberdashery shop is good – I often go in and pick up cute ribbons, zips and threads if I need them in a hurry.
THE VILLAGE HABERDASHERY
Lovely shop in West Hampstead – 47 Mill Ln, London NW6 1NB
Perfect for cotton fabric and jersey stretch fabrics. They are also online.
