We have a fabulous winner of our Avid Seamstress of the month for June – meet Camilla! Camilla writes a great blog called makingandmarking.com
Camilla & her gorgeous Day Dress
My name is Camilla – I’m a primary school teacher in Nottinghamshire UK. I have 2 per dogs who I spend lots of time walking in the local fields and forests.
I’ve recently sewn up and blogged about 3 Day Dresses, and I’ve attached a couple of pictures which are taken on a camera rather than my phone. The fabric is a beautiful Liberty lawn which I felt was perfect for early spring. I buy a lot of fabric, from all over the place, but I think Kat’s Fabrics on eBay is the best place for affordable Liberty.
I’ve been sewing for approximately 18 months, and a year ago upgraded to a second hand Elna 6005 which is great. I’ve just decided to start a sewing club at school and ordered two shiny new machines, so am currently busy contemplating lots of exciting new projects that are appropriate for beginner sewists. Generally I’m a fairly selfish sewer; the majority of my makes are dresses for myself. I’m currently naming each dress as per the letters of the alphabet – I’ve currently made and blogged dresses A-F, with my G dress made but not yet photographed or blogged (though worn several times, oops!).
Camilla your Day Dresses are fab! You look so pretty and happy. You’ve selected The Sheath Dress as your prize – enjoy! Lisa, The Avid Seamstress
